Giotto’s bell tower tickets in Florence – 2024

New Reservation System

Starting May 3, 2023, visitors to Giotto’s Bell Tower in Florence must reserve a time slot in advance. The Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore, the organization responsible for managing the Duomo complex, has decided to adopt this system, which has already been successfully implemented for the Brunelleschi Dome, to improve the visitor experience and reduce long lines. The goal is also to reduce the monument’s pressure, helping preserve it for future generations.

The first available time slot for visiting the Bell Tower is 8:15 AM, and the last is 6:45 PM. There are 15 time slots available each day, with a maximum of 120 people per slot.

Baggage Storage

Another significant change is opening a baggage storage facility in Piazza Duomo 38/r (next to the entrance to the Museum). Visitors to the Dome will be able to leave their bulky items, such as backpacks, bags, and containers, free of charge. The 60% of visitors who access the Dome arrive with overweight luggage, mostly backpacks, which slows down security checks and makes it difficult for visitors to enjoy the monument.

This is a free service that the Opera offers holders of the Brunelleschi Pass, and this service will be extended gradually to all visitors to our monuments.

The baggage storage regulations, including all the instructions to follow, will be available at the facility, on the Opera’s website (also available in PDF format), and at the ticket offices with a QR code.

Support Services

To support these changes, staff will be available at the entrances to the Bell Tower, the Crypt of Santa Reparata, the Baptistery, the Museum, and the Cathedral Square. They will be on hand to help visitors with the entry process and provide information in multiple languages.
